Adobe Is One of “100 Best Corporate Citizens” for Fifth Consecutive Year
CR Magazine recognizes Adobe’s commitment to its employees and the environment.
For the fifth year in a row, CR Magazine named Adobe among its 100 Best Corporate Citizens, a nod to both our responsible business practices and transparency in reporting. This year, Adobe ranks 36 on the list — up from 38 in 2018.
To create its 100 Best list, CR Magazine ranks the Russell 1000 Index on 98 environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) topics across seven categories: environment, climate change, human rights, stakeholders, employee relations, governance, and finance. We’re proud to maintain our competitive ranking among the 1,000 companies evaluated year after year.
Our environmental focus
Our ranking on the list is supported by strong action and disclosure on climate change. Adobe is proud to consistently be listed on CDP’s Climate Change A List, as only 2% of thousands of responding companies are ranked. Additionally, we were named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World for the third year in a row, a major indication for the investor community and beyond of our dedication to sustainable practices throughout our business.
We continue to work at reducing emissions while scaling our organization. Our environmental programs aim to achieve aggressive Science-Based Targets and the goal of being powered fully by renewable energy by 2035. Progress toward that goal has resulted in the completion of over 180 energy efficiency projects since 2002, including powering our Bangalore office with renewable energy, signing the first-ever renewable energy collaboration deal, and more, all of which have enabled us to reduce our emissions while we continue to grow our business.
A commitment to people first
Inclusion on the CR100 Best list also reflects a company’s strong human capital programs. We believe that our people are our most important asset, and know that when employees feel respected and included, they can be more creative, innovative and successful. We continuously invest in building a diverse and inclusive environment for all our employees, customers, and the tech industry.
The representation of women in our employee base continues to increase year over year, particularly within tech roles, with 24% of tech roles held by women, up from 20% just two years ago. Relatedly, we are incredibly proud of the impact of our female engineers. From 2017 to 2018, the number of women receiving a patent at Adobe increased by nearly 40%.
Pay parity has been another key area of focus. In October 2018 we announced that we achieved global gender pay parity. We had previously achieved pay parity in the United States between white and nonwhite employees.
We believe these efforts are integral to who we are — our purpose is to give people what they need to design exceptional experiences, and we know it’s important to do our part as responsible environmental stewards. We’re honored to receive this recognition from CR Magazine.
