Advancing Adobe’s Employee Experience: Top 5 Investments of 2018

Today, Adobe was ranked in the top ten of America’s Most JUST Companies by JUST Capital which recognizes companies’ “just” practices in areas that the majority of Americans care most about—employees, communities, customers and products. We at Adobe are honored by this recognition, and I am especially proud of the investments we have made in our employee experiences this year.

With 2018 coming to a close, here are five areas where we made big investments for our Adobe employees around the globe this year:

1. Achieving global pay parity

In October, we announced achievement of gender pay parity for all Adobe employees globally.  We define pay parity as ensuring that employees in the same job and location are paid fairly to one another, regardless of gender or, in the U.S., ethnicity. This was the culmination of a two-year effort, and we believe it is critical to maintaining a culture that fairly rewards and recognizes the contributions of all our employees.

2. Advancing our “Adobe For All” diversity and inclusion vision

The foundation for creating great employee experiences begins with a culture that is for all—one where we make everyone feel included and valued, and recognize that employee differences drive stronger innovation and business outcomes. In September, we took a big leap toward this vision by bringing together more than 1200 employees for the Adobe for All Summit, igniting our employees as evangelists for making Adobe a place for all.

3. Increasing our social impact

Supporting our communities and the environment is core to our culture.  As part of our commitment to fostering a diverse workforce, in 2018 we funded access to coding skills education for more than 75,000 youth. Additionally, our Adobe Digital Academy program continued to expand its reach with a new cohort at our Lehi site and many new successful hires to Adobe. On the environmental front, Adobe made the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third year in a row and we reached 100% renewable electricity use at our Bangalore offices.

4. Kickstarting employee growth and development

Empowering employees to own and manage their career through innovative development programs has always been a key focus, and this year we launched two exciting new programs. First, we introduced the Learning Fund, which expands the choice of educational and training opportunities that enable our employees to receive a $10,000 reimbursement annually.  In addition, we introduced a flexible benefit of $1,000 to be used for personal growth priorities such as attending a conference or an online course. And finally, we launched an increased focus on helping our employees move into new opportunities internally, including an online resource called Adobe Careers and “office hours” with our talent acquisition and employee resource teams to help employees navigate internal opportunities.

5. Providing innovative workspaces

Investing in state-of-the-art workspaces is an investment in our employees. This year, we continued our commitment to a more open, collaborative environment in our sites globally, and expanded our San Francisco campus with the opening of a new building. We also began the process of further expansion across several of our other sites including San Jose, Paris and Lehi.

Reflecting on this year’s success, I am grateful for a team that is driven to make every employee’s experience memorable and unique to Adobe. Looking toward 2019, I am excited about what will come next—for our products and solutions, our growth and most of all, our people.
