Designing for small businesses

First impressions are everything in business. Even a glance at a logo, brochure, menu, or business card can tell customers what a business values and whether the business might be a good fit for the customer. A new cupcake shop might use bright colors and pop graphics to highlight their fun and creative designs, or it might combine elegant font with gold filigree to attract brides looking for an upscale wedding cupcake.

Not every small business has time or money to hire designers for all of their marketing needs. That’s where Vistaprint steps in. Vistaprint, a Cimpress company, helps small business owners create professional, custom marketing collateral on par with marketing materials created by larger businesses.

High quality stock for great designs

Vistaprint is constantly rolling out new customizable templates that allow businesses to create their own unique designs quickly. High-quality stock imagery is critical to helping Vistaprint’s designers create templates at speed, but they don’t want to spend hours scrolling through rows of stock images to find just right the floral illustration for a wedding menu or puppy photo for a dog-walking service. By adding Adobe Stock to their creative workflow, Vistaprint designers now have access to millions of beautiful photos, patterns, and illustrations right through their favorite Adobe Creative Cloud apps.

“Adobe Stock is a fantastic tool for designers so that they’re not starting from scratch,” says Megan Morahan, Global Creative Director of Product Design at Vistaprint. “When we start from high-quality stock images, we can deliver better designs on a short deadline for our customers.”

What makes Adobe Stock stand out isn’t just its library with millions of images, its integration with Adobe Creative Cloud apps such as Adobe Photoshop CC, or its easy license management through the Adobe Admin Console. Designers also love Adobe Stock for its fast, easy, and intelligent search features powered by Adobe Sensei, Adobe’s machine learning and artificial intelligence technology.

Search smarter with Adobe Sensei

With Adobe Sensei, Adobe’s artificial intelligence and machine learning technology, powering search and filter functions, designers are finding just the right images for their designs in much less time. This gives designers more freedom to experiment with the layout, switch out color palettes, and create the perfect template to inspire a business.

With Aesthetic Filters, designers can filter images based on characteristics of the photo, including Copy Space and Vivid Color. Designers might use the Vivid Color filter to search for a highly saturated image of balloons that will make a store’s “Grand Opening” posters pop. Or they can turn the slider in the opposite direction to find monochromatic patterns suitable for the menus in a subdued coffee shop. If designers need to layer copy over the image, they can simply click on the Copy Space filter to show images with more space for overlays.

Adobe Sensei makes it easy for designers to fine tune search results to find exactly what they’re looking for. If they find a picture of a bridge that doesn’t quite hit the mark, they can use Visual Search to find similar options. Designers can refine the search with Find Similar Controls to look specifically for options with similar content, color, or composition to quickly find just the right image for any design.

“Adobe Sensei is the underlying magic of Adobe Stock,” says Nick David, Senior Graphic Designer at Vistaprint. “We’re improving the quality of our designs because we don’t need to spend hours searching for the right photograph or editing complicated artwork. We’re starting from a strong foundation, which helps us build better designs and experiences to help our customers reach their audiences.”
